contributing ideas for whiprsnapr brewery

This can design was done for the WhiprSnapr Brewing Co. in Ottawa. Though, it was not sold to the company and was mainly a hypothetical project, I still put professional effort into creating a new, unique flavour and a creative can design to go with it. This hypothetical project started with the brainstorming of a brand new wacky flavour that I could present to WhiprSnapr.
I decided to keep the names Ottawa themed and chose to do a play on some very important historical figure's names of the city. The names Kernel By (Colonel By) and Dillhousie (Dalhousie) came about for the cans and that exploded my creative procress!

pun-tastic names and their creative progress

Colonel By and Dalhousie played extremely significant roles in the creation of Bytown, what we now know as Ottawa. However, I didn't wanna focus too much on their history with Ottawa but rather, focus on their names themselves. Colonel turned to Kernel, like from a popcorn, and the "Dal" turned to "Dill" for Dillhousie. This gave me the perfect opportunity for some wacky flavours for a non-alcoholic drink. Popcorn and dill flavoured labels were brainstormed and sketched and resulted in some cute mascots that would represent each flavour. A popcorn and pickle mascot would represent each flavour, while also keeping true to their historical significance by having little 1800's hats!

a can design that demands attention

The mascots, at their final product, not only represented their flavours through themselves but also represented the names of their historical figures with their canes and old english hats. Popcorn and Pickle patterns made their backgrounds busy, eye-grabbing and tasty-looking. The final designs for both cans came out very appealing, looking like some very mouth-watering drinks that were ready for the shelves!
