Garlic king: from outdated to modern

In this project, I gave myself the challenge of redesigning Ottawa's famous shawarma shop, Garlic King. Although, the place's food is great and up to date, their branding was completely outdated and confusing. The owner of the shop seems to have an infatuation with himself, putting pictures of his face all over his websites, logos and menus. I took the liberty of modernizing and creating a real brand for this outdated and wacky shawarma shop. Not only did I want to do a full rebrand of his logos, but I also wanted to create a modern website to go along with it.

The redesign process began with the starting of sketches for the logo (see more below) and wireframes for the website. This shop needed a complete modernization in all aspects. With regards to the logo, I decided to sketch out plenty of middle eastern and mediterranean style logos while maintaining a new, fresh look. For the wireframes of the website, I prioritized structure and content to be front and center, unlike its original. Multiple sketches and wireframes later, I finally landed on a final product that I knew was perfect.

The final redesign of the logo was completely transformed from the owner's face in front of a purple background all the way to a real professional brand logo (see more below). It makes the shop look way more professional and modern but also stays true to its mediterranean roots. The website was completely changed to a more inviting and intuitive experience, allowing the customer to easily navigate to the menu to order and for them to read all about the shop and its origins.
